2011 Corvette ZR1
« on: September 12, 2011, 07:45:24 PM »
I've never been a big Corvette fan myself..  :dunno:  But my cousin just came over tonight with a brand new 2011 ZR1.. 638 hp stock - not sure why you'd need 638 hp for the street, but then again, why not?!  :dunno: :chuckle:    Truly one of the fastest cars I've personally been in,  and it may have just changed my mind on owning one..  :chuckle:

Just need the money first.. But, I sure as heck don't have 6 figures to spend on a car....   :yike:

Anyone else a Corvette fan?

Truly one of the fastest cars I've personally been in,

So which cars have you been in that are faster?

0-60 in 3.3 seconds is one of the fastest street cars of all time.

Personally I'd have saved the $40,000+ over the ZR1 and got a Z06. They'll do 0-60 in 3.6 seconds and are only about 5mph slower on the top end.

But what the hell do I know,I bought a Subaru Outback over the weekend. :chuckle:

Yep,it hauls the dog, hauls the kids, they're like a tank in the snow. It'll probably go 300K miles too.

I always find it funny that so many guys are defined by the car they drive.

Don't worry,when I want to be a "real man" I'll hop in my 400hp Diesel P/U.

Is that the same one I drooled all over when I was at the Chev. dealer in REnton a few weeks ago? Look for a big slime mark just under the steering wheel on the floor mat.....

I have been in a Lamborghini Gallardo and an SL63 AMG Mercedes.. That was a pretty dang fast and amazing car too.. Have you ever been in a Ford GT Supercar?  Talk about an awesome ride.  A friend of mine collects Shelby's and misc other hot rods.  He let me drive the GT and a Lamborghini Murcielago.  Holy sheep sh!t Batman what a kick in the butt even though I could barely fit in them.  I would rather have more land instead.

I just parked this Corvette eater. I'm not sure it's going to eat a new ZR-1 it has eaten a lot of Z06's up. It's not exactly a showroom car but the engine is stock. It's a 2008 ACR Viper turned SCCA car.

A guy I used to work with got a vette.  Said it outperformed all the other sportscars AND had a trunk big enough to accomodate his golf clubs.  He was sold.  After driving it for awhile he was really liking it because of all the women that would randomly flash him from the sidewalk or at stoplights.  (I assume it was a good thing---was in Bremerton/Port Orchard, so you never know.)

   if they ever figure out a way to fit car seats in one and i win the lottery i will have a nice silverado for sale!!!!!! gotta give it to subarus they really have it going on. i mean the 2010 outback had more ground clearence then a 2010 jeep grand cherokee along with mpg! and if you have ever ridden in a wrx sti it will be on your most fun to drive list!
Agree, seems like they have control on a sizeable market of vehicles with quite a bit of desirable features which other car companies are failing to pick up on.

So which cars have you been in that are faster?
I have a bucket list of hunting trips I'd rather take before spending six figures on a car - I don't know about you guys?!  :dunno: :chuckle:

I have driven a few cars that are faster and have never liked the newer vettes, the pre 69 cars being the exception. GM really needs to do a better job of interior work on the car, there is far too much plastic in it and not enough leather. The finish of the bumpers has always been a real problem for them too, the paint never matches the rest of the car.

Hey Jon, why not kill two birds with one stone, take your six figure car on one of your hunting trips. ;)

The Veyron SS recently surpassed the SSC Ultimate Aero to take the title back, but keep your eye out for the SSC Ultimate Aero II, speculated to average the 275 mph mark. :o Built right here in Washington too.

Most of the fast cars I ride in go in a straight line only (hopefully), but I did get to take a ride in a Ferrarri F40 and a Ferrarri 550 Maranello....to much for me. I would prefer something that can drive over them then out run them.

Also forgot to add, that while I am not a chevy guy, the new z06 and zr1 vettes are pretty sweet.

Not sure its fair to compare a aftermarket built car like that to a production car.  They are fun though, same or better performance and half the price.  Hope my car is close to as fast as that CRX was when I have finished it.  BTW for that price I think I would get the GTR.  0-60 in 2.9 seconds and all wheel drive, but the ZR1 looks awesome.
