Very nice.  If a guy were gonna have a Moose hide turned into useable leather, like for mocassins or gloves and what not, any guesstimate on the cost?
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

Goldtip, cost for soft tanning on a moose hide (hair on) will range from $14-20 SQ. FT.

Hair off (buckskin) is getting more difficult to find, i.e. gloves.

I currently do not know of anyone making mocassins/gloves in the area, maybe someone else reading this thread will have an idea on cost or contacts?

thanks, Duane

Just a quick search for tanning a moose hide hair off - about $325-$350 plus shipping.....

Thanks, my Mom and Dad make the mocassins and gloves/mittens themselves, so don't really need a contact for that.  Dad has a Moose tag this year back home in Montana, was thinking of getting the hide tanned for him to be able to make some stuff.  Thanks for the estimate.

No - that was for a full hide.

Should be about half that after a shoulder mount taken off.

Normally call that a rear/back skin when the shoulder is removed.  Some tanneris will quote for the rear half and some by the SQ. FT.
