I'm for sure going to bring you my capes.... if I have capes at one point in time.... That said how about a swap for a skull mount... or just a skull cleaning? That would be nice!

losdaddy7 -  Bull and Buck Capes Only.

LincolnTWilliams - Capes will only cover a portion of a European.  How much it covers will depend on the quality, size, and speciese of the cape.

Questions for ya....I'm a west sider live farely close to Rochester and was wondering....If me or one of the guys shoot a little 3 or 4x rag horn are they worth bringin in, or how mature would a bull need to be and how big do the blacktail bucks need to be?  Is it one of those deals where a picture is best?  My buddy has a cow tag and he's been eyeballing this good sized old girl that keeps coming into his yard with a long dark beard, are you interested in that hide if he's able to take her?  Mite be more incentive for him to harvest the bearded lady if the hide was worth a few bucks.

Buddies and I do farely well on the raghorns but just end up tossing the hides...don't see the barrels for collecting them around any more.  Funny we do farely well on little bucks too...same thing with the hides......Someday I'll get a biggen....Someday.

It really depends on the size of the Buck or Bull.  I don't take capes off of spikes unless I need one as a special request.

Young (1 - 2 yo) rag horn Bulls are not going to bring $125.  Just because I don't use them very often.  I do buy a couple a year just to have on hand incase I need one.  Though I prefer to get capes off of 3+ yo Bulls.

I don't go by what a bull scores when buying capes.  Neck size and the size of the bases on the antlers have more to do with it.

Such as if you shoot a large bodied 5-6 year old 5x5 Bull that might score 175 - 200 ish with large bases.  This bull might not be mount quality to quite a few because of antler size, but because of the size of the cape it would work on a 300"+ Bull.

Michelle, can capes be sent to you by mail?  If I had to drive one to you the price of the cape would probably be the same in gas.  However, your prices are very generous, my taxidermist usually will only knock off about 25 on plack for a decent cape.
When you see the third, thin the herd.
Right now I'm somewhere picking up sheds.

And what about Oregon bobcat pelts, not sure about the selling and trade laws on them, but if we could figure out the legality of the matter would you be interested in them?

Arteman,

You could send a frozen cape to me if you want but your looking at probably $25+ just to ship it to me.

I believe I sent you a PM about the Bobcat pelts.   :)

I harvested a shiras last week are you and my dad is a taxidermist also but does not have much room for it (I do not intend on implementing a shoulder mount for this animal) what would you pay for a moose cape that is salted and has been fleshed?
I've spent most of my life hunting and fishing....the rest has been wasted

The cape is in the freezer for you.  I got all of the tear duct this time....

Not sure when I will be down that way, but if I come back in two weeks with two nice whiteys as well, I might make a special trip down.  Otherwise I'll have no room for the meat either.
