do you guy run into this
« on: September 15, 2011, 07:54:30 PM »
when getting permission to trap do you ever find farmers that
think it is illegal to trap.this farmer has a slough full of nutria and coon
eating his corn but he doesnt want to give perrission to trap because
he thinks it is illegal.
so what do you do if this happens.I told him I would bring him the wac
telling what I could do legally.Iam also going to take him a copy of the damage
control form.
Iam new at this so what do you think is there anything more I could do.

Pretty common at our fair booth to have people come up and say they thought trapping was illegal.

I find it interesting that there is such a anti trapping agenda .....yet people think its ok to buy a mole trap and rid their lawn of moles which is illegal.  Try and educate them with the stuff Kain posted and the fact that nutria are invasive species and destructive to native critters.

Here is a lot of good info on Nutria in Washington.  It includes their legal status and trapping recommendations.

Call up a game agent and have him visit the farmer with you. The game department wants the Nutria gone.
