« on: August 22, 2011, 07:53:52 AM »
has anyone been draw in the recent past year or two and  seen quality deer or have they been smaller bucks and young bucks? has there been a lot of deer or has it been sparse? i drew this in 2006 and it was great, lots of deer and some great bucks, but lots of folks have said that its not been that great lately.  thanks in advance.

I drew a few years ago and hunted around Thanksgiving (when the archery hunt was divided in two).  The first few days the deer were crazy and running around all rutted up.  I saw lots of bucks every day but only one really big one (160+ but not the REALLY big ones that come out of there on occassion) and a couple of nice ones.

Of course, the year that I drew it, there was no snow and I was actually hunting in a t-shirt a couple of days.  WTF?

You will have plenty of deer to choose from!  Do it justice.

I drew the tag 2 years ago.  Had a good hunt and seen a couple real quality bucks.  Seen a lot of 155 to 160 bucks but we had good snow and the deer were rutting pretty good.  The two downsides to the hunt was the fog which I guess is pretty common and the doe hunters.  Nothing against doe hunters,  but I wish the wdfw would have put them in there a week later or something.  VERY frustrating spending 9 points on a quality deer hunt and having way too many people in unit pushing the deer around. Should be a good hunt for you and pray for weather.

A buddy of mine drew in 07 (rifle tag) and I went with him.  We saw 200 deer a day somedays a lot more.  There was not a drop of snow in the unit.  Most of the bucks where in the low 140's.  Saw two really nice bucks the whole hunt.  Saw on average about two vehicles a day.  Can't wait until I draw.

If there is no snow than climb to the snow line and hunt there. I had a buddy draw this tag and he bagged a real nice 4 point. but he said there were bigger bucks killed higher up at the snow line where he couldent hike to ( he is in his mid 60's). You should have an awsome hunt.
Remember that buck is climbing that Mt. every day!
