Archery Roosevelt Bull
« on: September 17, 2011, 08:41:20 PM »
So after hunting out of state and eastside the last 6 years I was looking forward to hunting closer to home and chasing the elusive roosevelt elk. It didnt take long to remember why they are the toughest elk to hunt/kill. Combine brush, dry hot weather and full moon and it makes for tough hunting. I did put my time in and hiked some mean miles trying to find a big bull before I found this bull with some cows. Thursday am I got on them and he was bugling and I was able to trail along and eventually got close enough for a shot which I missed. Came back in that night with my boy and we tried to find them but no luck. Stayed out after dark and located them with some bugles so I knew where to start the next morning. It took a while to figure out where they had gone but eventually I caught up to them and was able to kill this bull which is the same one I missed so I guess I redeemed myself. He's no giant but will be a good eater and it was nice to notch a tag on a rosie again. nwhunter

There's not a whole lot of people that hunt the OP that would've passed that one up.  Nice bull.

Much bigger than a dry side.  Love the dark color.  Congratulations.

Well done Scott!  That will keep me motivated to get out there right now. Always nice to see a local bull kill the minute before you're heading out the door.
