Swakane Sheep
« on: September 18, 2011, 07:10:35 AM »
Just finished my Swakane sheep tag and the whole experience was better than expected.  I had 11 total people that helped me scout and be there for the day I killed my ram.  I was really torn between two rams and ended up going with the ram with the most character and acted the smartest on the mountain.  He was tough to locate, always stayed in the steepest cliffy stuff and would take off by himself if spooked.  The other ram is beautiful and will probably be on someone's list in 2012.  I just wanted to thank all the members that shared information, pictures and offered to help.  His long horn is 38.5 and his base is 15 inches.  The chunk hurts him on one measurement by about an inch, but that is why we called him "flattop".  A lot of great rams still running around up there and the next couple years are going to be great.  The Swakane sheep hunt is special and it was a priveledge to be the hunter in 2011.
