I thought I read a news clipping last week that said they were thinking of making the pass transferable between rigs next year. I do not have one either.
Can't we all just get along?

I would have bought one Discover pass, if I could use it on whichever vehicle I was driving that day. But they want me to buy one for each vehicle, which means I'd have to buy four. So I'm "boycotting" them. I'm not buying a Discover pass and will just avoid going on state lands where it is required. I do have some spots on DNR land I may hunt this year, but I will be parking elsewhere, and then walking in to the state land. So no pass required. It's only required if you drive on the state land.

I don't have a problem with paying $30.00 or whatever for the pass... It's good for a entire year and good for all the state parks too for day use. So it's really not a big deal. It's better than jacking up license plate fees and hunting and fishing license fees. Don't buy one and get caught without one and pay even a bigger fine... $109.00 Fine VS. a $30.00 permit. Hmmmm?? What would you do?

what would I do boycott them and not go on land that requires it with my vehicle  :dunno: kinda like i dislike walmart so I boycott them this is America we can still choose or almost still choose....and I have paid to stay at state parks many times not buying a stupid pass to day use them...so no more state parks use for me...simple really

Is Yelm hunter by chance a teenage girl?  Crying about Bobcat trying to politely correct him and taking time to post useful info.  Then helm hunter can't read a map and is now going to tell on somebody else.  Im guessing a 14 year old girl.

When i reserved for w/c campground i talked to one of the higher up guys at dnr "sry no names" he told me that it is technically required in the winston area but they will not be enforcing it until next year because land ownership is so spread out and sometimes uncertain there that they need to be able to define boundries a little clearer to avoid unecessary court time by issueing questionable citations :dunno:

Was out this weekend for the youth hunt, and discovered that the state folks have started closing the "walk in" loophole.

Enjoy nature by all means, but do not tempt her.  For you matter not to her, and she will not mourn your passing.

Interesting. But of course for WDFW lands we hunters do not need the Discover pass, because we will already have the vehicle use pass we get with our hunting license. So that isn't an issue. And for DNR lands, I don't think it will be a problem, parking outside of the state land and walking in. I'll simply be parking on county right of ways.

Got away with not having this pass this weekend....wasn't aware to be honest until we got out there and saw the signs.  Since we drove 2 hours to get there, I was risking it.

But I question where that money is going...Sure as heck isn't the roads!  I couldn't believe how crappy the roads were up where we were.  My brother and I were getting heated just talking about said pass.  Making us pay to enjoy the outdoors, and we have to get around on road systems like we saw?  Unreal...

id be curious to see how a fine from not being parked in the lot and walking into public state land would hold up in court

When I went fishing on the Kalama this summer individuals did not park in the "Discovery Parking lot" they parked out side of that and were not ticketed.  I talked to the game warden who was there checking folk.  So you do have a loop hole.

I'm not sure I'd call it a loophole. I mean that's the way the lawmakers intended it to be. They wanted the pass to go with the vehicle, rather than the person. If it wasn't tied to one particular vehicle and instead just to a person, or family, then I wouldn't have a problem with purchasing one. But as it is, I would need to purchase four Discover passes to cover my family's four vehicles.

It was the same way with the WDFW Pass.
