But they want me to buy one for each vehicle, which means I'd have to buy four. So I'm "boycotting" them. I'm not buying a Discover pass and will just avoid going on state lands where it is required. I do have some spots on DNR land I may hunt this year, but I will be parking elsewhere, and then walking in to the state land. So no pass required. It's only required if you drive on the state land. Was out this weekend for the youth hunt, and discovered that the state folks have started closing the "walk in" loophole. I have seen these signs posted in the Bluegrade area of Douglas County. I hunted there years ago, and it is all private property that wdfw got the landowners to open to the hunters for access during hunting seasons. It is not public land. The reason it is strictly controlled now, is that too many people were using it as a dumping ground: cans, bottles, washing machines and clothes dryers, even old refrigerators. It was disgusting. The controlled access is the alternative to the landowners closing the area down to all activities. A prime example of a few pigs making it hard on everybody.id be curious to see how a fine from not being parked in the lot and walking into public state land would hold up in court

I don't have a problem with paying $30.00 or whatever for the pass... It's good for a entire year and good for all the state parks too for day use. So it's really not a big deal. It's better than jacking up license plate fees and hunting and fishing license fees. Don't buy one and get caught without one and pay even a bigger fine... $109.00 Fine VS. a $30.00 permit. Hmmmm?? What would you do?
So when you buy your hunting and fishing license and get the WDFW parking permit do you still have to get a Discover Pass?
No you don't have to buy a new permit!! You can call the Dept. of fish & wildlife tell them you got new plates and they will either send you a new permit with your new license plate preprinted or a sticker for your current pass. Not sure though. My uncle went through the same thing and that what he did.

So what is the " Recreational Use Permit " good for with our hunting licenses ?
