« on: September 18, 2011, 09:42:33 PM »
What is it? Is it a different season? Is it just archery or can rifles be used? Kinda new too this but it looks like a very challenging hunt an id love to have the chance to do it.

Read the regs, that's what they are for. High hunts are in certain wilderness areas you must hike into. Not for weekend warriors.

It is in certain wilderness areas for modern firearm. Low success rate, but lots of fun. Look into it. All of the wilderness areas are in towards the middle of Washington (I think).

"High Hunt" is just the WDFW's name for the early deer season which runs September 15-25 every year, in certain wilderness areas.

it only applies to those who have some kind of disability AND partake in medical Marijuana.

High Buck Hunt means extreme heat, long long packs, extremely steep country, extreme cold, wet, and snow.  Personally I feel like I lost a fight this year.   Next year I'll lose the moobies (man boobies) and be ready for the freakisly hellish hunt.

Its a buck season that takes place above 3545 feet above sea level, and has a 4x5 antler restriction. You have to put in for it in a special draw. The deadline is sometime before the season opens.

If you look at a satellite map, find the spot in the middle of the area where no roads are.  Then, start walking.

most overhyped hunt in the state, a good camping trip most years and a chance to carry a rifle in September.
