For those who advertise hunting areas on the www..... Stop it!
Nothing like having 20 extra hunters in a small area because they seen it on the forum.


I know the bulls were tough this archery season and access was limited....but!
When somebody else bugles a bull and is working the elk with patience.... running in with the wind at your back and blowing the herd into the next county is a good way to start an altercation.... yes Mr. White dodge...you know what you did.... We heard your weak attempt at a bugle.... next time you may be changing a tire or two.

I'm so friggin tired of yahoos thinking they can weasel into someone else’s hard work.... enuff.

It scares me to see how many dumb people we have in society right now, kinda scared at where we will be in another 20 years? Hopefully you have some good karma for doing real work and the bad juju will be after those guys.

Respect must have left when the no entry fire danger signs starting popping up..... too bad. I tried to wave the guys to me and just work the bulls together but they thought they had a better plan..

I'm starting to see this far too much.... time to move to a new area.... again.

Posting info on a hunting website doesn't cause dumba$$es in white dodges to do what they do... they'd pull those stunts if we were all still communicating in Morse Code.  They're just dumba$$es.

The fact that you tried to get them in on your hunt to begin with is very admirable.  Too bad they were dumba$$es.

Is there a problem with me locating bulls from the road? 
 If I park at a gate... three rigs decide there must be elk there so they pile in on me.

Finding bulls is about covering ground.... be it on foot or by rig, one might hunt the same herd for the entire season and not have a bull talk once... different area different bulls...different stages.

How is it I can locate bulls after three rigs pull into the same landing in front of me....
I wait till they leave ( guess not long enuff ) and talk to the animals.
Maybe if hunters understood ALL bulls talk...east and west... they would understand elk and hunting better.
I've had many hunters tell me west side elk don't talk.... ya right.

Learn the language... respect others hunts and animals... If one calls elk behind you maybe you should go back to elk school.

I'm not going to say where I was for the simple fact I'll bring more people in.... I'm just venting.

What ticked me off during scouting was all the guys driving away the elk with their sighting in and shooting their guns pre-season.  All I saw was sheep after that.  I ate it when the space is crowded.

stories like this is why I quit bowhunting several years ago, back then you could buy a Fred Bear  bow complete with sights quiver and arrows for about $79 it seemed that about 80% of the hunters I encountered had them and most of those guys were idiots

Must be a thing with big white trucks.  We absolutely cringe when we see one coming our way.  Especially if they have big ass roll your truck tires and a kid peeing sticker in the back window.  Add a pair of bull testicles to the rear hitch and your sure to have them screw a stalk.  Those trucks must be prone to exhaust leakage in the cab making occupants brain dead.

Perhaps we need retailers to ask a few simple questions before they can sell elk bugles.  If a customer says "yes" to owning a big ass white truck, having bull testicles on their trailer hitch, chew Skoal tobacco or a decal that says "Wood's Logging Supply" they can't buy one.

Wasn't meant to be a slam on you for where ya hunt.  I used to hunt the low lands and had plenty of encounters with d bags. My buddies and I called it a molested hunt.  Happened almost every time. We were hunting private ground most of the time to boot.  I cringe just thinking about hunting down here. Does nothing for me. It is one of the reasons I work my tail off every year so I can be successful in the backcountry.

Just as an example.  My buddies family owns a bunch of property right down the road from here.  No one but us has permission.  I was tagged out so I went down to help try and call a bull in for a buddy.  From where we were i watched as a couple d bags in a black samuri pull into his field and walk out like they owned the place.  They get out to where they can see my buddies truck and turn around and go back to there rig.  They then drive down the road and pull off to the side and start trying to call me in.  I've had it happen so many times all I could do was laugh. Nothing has changed in the last handful of years that I have avoided that area.

We set up behind a huge meadow Thursday night on some game trails leading into it. I was talking to a bull and he seemed to be getting pretty excited. Then he stopped. In about another hour, we heard hoopin' and hollerin' in the meadow. A group of guys had come in after us and had shot the bull I was talking to. It wasn't my favorite experience of the trip, but it's possible they had no idea we were there and just set up like we did thinking it was a good spot and they were alone. Stuff happens. Some people are jerks. Some people are unaware of your presence. Cutting someone's tires isn't going to make them be less of a jerk. It'll turn you into one.

I'd like to know how you would have responded had the hunters knowingly ran past you to get the bull?


Question yourself.... If you witnessed two hunters working a bull would you back out or run in on the set-up?


Me?  I would back out and hope they get a shot.... I must be old school.

If they'd knowingly busted our hunt to get on a big bull, I'd have left. You can't teach jerks not to be jerks and it won't help me to get in a fight with one. In my case this year, I don't think they had any idea we were there.
