In 96 i might have been in that cluster of boats. What boat did you fish on?

The Callisto.(sp)
Pretty sure it was the south line in Naknek. If not it was north line Egegik. I have prints from 94 or 95 the last year they allowed spotter planes. The north line was and looked as close to war as I ever want to get, thirty min. before an opener.

Right on. I fished on Islandia, Julie Ann, and Fairwell. Yeah it used to get crazy bumping off of boats while fishing. And the divers just waiting for nets to get sucked up in the props. 2000 was the last year that i went up.

I recognize the first two names. Both glass boats if I recall. Do you remember the "duck" huge beam aluminum, out of Astoria (I think) with wheels on the bottom.. North line special, till they enforced running your net "dry". '96 was my last year, I paid for school and beer the years prior.

Here are some names from the last year I worked (92)...Spelling might be wrong but I'll give it a go. Meesik Wolf...hard drinking crew. I used to see at least one crew member every AM puking his guts before raising the anchor. Iron Man, Karma, then there was the boat that was nearly as wide as it was long, some doctor owned it. Do you guys remember the 32 foot open skiff that some guys from Dillingham used? They would go from Dillingham to Ugashik to Egegik, King Salmon etc. Balls to the walls those guys.
Ya, you guys that kept working after prices fell below a dollar a pound have my respect. Once it went below 1 buck I went back to framing in the summer.
If prices went up so a fella could make 20K or so I'd find an old fart crew and join in the fun and games.
There were two guys from Idaho that had boats up there. Always hired wrestlers from the local college for crew members because of the rep of good work habits with wrestlers. Anyway these two characters in 92 or 91 started shooting each others end buoy with a 12 for fun. Then at the season's end they'd figure who owed who money. Another season they started charging meals to each other's boats. They never got mad at each other, best of friends.
Does anyone remember the psycho skipper called Doc? He owned the Karma and some other boat later in the 90s.
Lots of fun, lots of lack of sleep, lots of excitement etc.
