G5 Speed Studs- Who's used/using them?
« on: September 22, 2011, 08:34:57 AM »
Just wondering what exactly the advantage is, i know they claim to increase FPS, do they really?

How do they work exactly? Are they worth the ten bucks? and do they silience string noise any?

If they don't silence string noise, lets say for arguments sake, since they claim to increase speed, while putting on string sliencers like leeches or something which slows down speed, and put the studs on do they cancel each other out? Do you still get an increase in FPS along with string leeches, i know in reality the changes are only 1 or 2 feet per second lost or gained so maybe they have no real advantage other than another marketing product for G5.

Let me know what you guys think, if nobody has used them i will probably pick some up since i have no string silencing stuff on right now and try them out and let you guys know what i think.

here is a pic if you've not seen them.

i have one in to help align my peep, but i still ended up putting a rubber tube on, too.  they say to keep it as close to the end serving as possible, and to get my peep rotated where it needed to be, it was closer to the center of the string.  bottom line, i'm not happy with my string and will likely be replacing it over the winter.  then i can ditch the tube and the speed stud!

lol so more or less an idea by G5 that was low cost to make, with no doubt a purpose, but a sales pitch none the less? the things that always throw me off are the increases in performance, i know the key word they use, UP TO 10 FPS faster, so its unlikely anyone will see that, but i didn't know if they made any differnece in the sound department, fortunately i have no problem, currently, with peep alignment so i don't think i'll spend the ten bucks, save it for a gallon of gas haha :chuckle:

They will speed up some bows and not others. A buddy got something like 9fps out of one of his bows and it slowed down the other. 10 fps won't do much for your bow. Just bragging rights. :twocents:
