First Archery Success
« on: September 20, 2011, 04:03:23 PM »
Not too much of a story...Had a great weekend hunting with KenPCPilot near Twisp. I missed a shot on Friday, missed one on Saturday, and was pretty bummed. Then when we were headed back to camp on Sunday so I could take off, we saw this little lady about 35 yrds down hill from the road and made a good shot. She ran about 25 yards and that was it. Great weekend in the woods with a successful outcome   Side note...When I was skinning her I found a bunch of birdshot around her rump...some a--hole must of shot her a couple of years ago...

NICE!     my muley doe from last year is TASTY!

yeah, lots of landowners in the valley hate deer eating their gardens!   :chuckle:  my aunt and uncle have a decent fence around theirs, and two dogs to patrol at night!     they've lived between twisp and carlton for 30-odd years and seen a lot of changes in the methow.

Yes skunked by Eric the rookie.  I had 4 shots 2 long but in my range.  Kept going high and to the left??????  Hit the practice target mid and dead on center.  One shot was tricky and one was just bizzare.  The arrow was corkscrewing as it flew and planed off about 4-5 feet.  I don't know if it hung up on the release or what.  I have a drop away rest and have never seen an arrow practice shooting fly so friggin weird.  I was really glad for Eric nice shot down hill.   The poor deer piled up only after 20-30 yards dead as a door nail.  Certainly a lot fewer animals this year?? did not see one bear compaired to last year.  Might have to change areas and tactics.

Congrats boys at least there was alot of fun and laughs on your trip.  Great deer and stories for a lifetime.  I two was over there and saw very little deer compared to years past.

We were thinking the same thing over there.  The last 2 days we were getting into more but I was lucky enough to get another white tail in the winthrop area.

No Bears this year?  I ended up seeing yet another and didn't see the tree limb!
