I love this site. Moved to Chewelah about a year ago and was wondering how the bear hunting was and if anyone could share a few spots to check out.

The area is loaded with bear and cougar, as well as coyotes. Try up Sand Canyon. I have seen several up there. It is right on the far side of town past Zips. Right at the gravel pile. Follow it back to the state land and you are golden.

You'll see a bit more around Sand Canyon....oh yea, and there is more than one Sand Canyon around these parts...
Hey guys....this site has grown a bit and we have a crowd of people here. If you'd like to name-names of spots, lets take it off board.
Send a PM. I know most won't like it, but sorry,
I don't need a crowd in my backyard

My spot is off of Marx Road outside of Colville. The address is 5880B Marx Road, Rice, WA
It is all private, and my family and I own the last 1/2 mile. That is where I hang my stand.
Sand Canyon is thousands of acres, not like it is exactly your back yard. Hell, you can go from Sand Canyon all the way over to Usk in one direction and to Colville in another, that is a WHOLE lot of real estate.
I understand your point, but when talking about an area that is so large, there really should not be an issue. I have been hunting that area off and on for years, and if you truly hunt it, not just drive around on the roads, you can go all day without seeing a soul.

This is a great spot for fellow hunters to share information if they choose, I think the key word was public land. If the fella tells his spot and givin that info for everyone, so be it. For me, Ill only tell close friends.
