roto molded marsh rat with a H20 blind is going to be the ticket.   I looked at making one, and you just cant do it for the benefits that you get with a rat. beat the hell out of it, hose it out and do it again. Sounds like short distances and concealment are the top priorities. This fits the bill to a T and you cant them.  Put the time in and find one online.  Might get lucky and find one for about $500.

Hey y'all!

So I have been getting rather frustrated.. I have been looking on Craigslist like crazy to find sneak boats, etc. But I have been having horrible luck finding anything. I realize this is probably something that should be in the classifieds but I could use a little help finding some things. I really like the Beavertail Phantom, but would like to try to find it a lot cheaper than what their website says.. anything helps! I would build one but I don't have the time for it..

thanks,

Jordan
There have been several on the internet over the past several months.  Keep looking.

I have hunted from a canoe in the area you are talking about. Skagit, and Samamish bay. What i can tell you is that the current and wind make paddling VERY energetic! You might be surprised how much current there is int the fingers.  :twocents:

Another vote for the marsh rat, I like mine but it is the magnum a little bigger but not as light as the roto moulded type.  I found mine on craigs list a couple of years ago look under boat and sporting goods.  Good luck

I have an Aqua Pod that works well for me, it is a short (8 ft.) and fat (read stable) kayak. Not sure if they are still making them anymore, but I did see one cheap on craigslist about a month ago. Search for that name.

not a bad deal on a pod actually.  Most of them around 1K plus now. I saw one in BC for $1175 I think.

I would encourage you to really evaluate how much you would actually use the boat.  I have a bunch of duck boats and it boils down to me using each one about 8 times per season if that?  I had a marshrat for 4 years and hunted out of it only a handful of times.   :yike:

I will use it a lot actually, last year there were lots of spots where I didn't hunt because I didn't have one or lots of times when I wish I would have had one..

I think you would use the boat plenty, if i remeber correctly you don't have a dog... There is a Hybrid in the classifieds an 8' for $500 in Cameno.  :twocents:
