Glacier Peak wilderness high hunt success
« on: September 23, 2011, 07:41:04 PM »
Well my 2nd year into hunting the high country paid off, not a big boy like I'm seeing on other posts but its a trophy to me!
Last night of a 4 night hunt brought me and a buddy glassing a ridge that looked good from walking around and glassing that morning ( had a forky skyline himself on a saddle in the middle of a snowstorm AWSOME! ), finding lots of beds and crap and more does than what we had seen at lower elevations. This isn't the buck we were glassing in the group but when you put a sneek on a group of feeding bucks on the last night of the hunt the pressure takes over and I pulled the trigger on this 3 point at a WOPPING 3 yds!, basically came around a patch of firs and it was starring at me like WTF?, to bad I didn't see the friggen 24"ish wide 4x4 sitting on the next bench up the mountain 150 yds away :chuckle:
oh well maybe he'll be there next year, this was my 2nd trip in and the 1st for my buddy so we were just elated to actually see some bucks, and yeah, were already planning next year....

Awesome job and nice buck.  That is beautiful country. I am hoping to get up there next year to do some scouting over the summer and then hunt.

Any deer from the high hunt is well earned. That 4x4 will be even bigger next year when you go back.

THREE YARDS!  You should hunt with a bow next year!

but then that would mean I couldn't get within 200yds next year :chuckle:

didn't see any elk but there was some older tracks every once in awile, the year before I followed a set that had to be a monster bull or a small moose, friggen track was almost the size of my whole hand
