And where are you hunting where there are 12 deer with 3 shooter bucks? Some coordinates would suffice...  :tup:

 I did the same with a nice 2 point about 15 years ago. He took off in a downpour after a good hit. I had to quit at dark and searched for 2 days only to find him the third day. Coyotes and birds had already destroyed the deer but I tagged it and brought the antlers home. Felt like crap but not much you can do but kick yourself once or twice and try to remember the circumstances the next time. You got my respect for stepping up and addressing the situation!

if the deer was hit perfect you don't have to beat yourself up about making an animal suffer. In bowhunting I have always believed the next best thing to a perfect hit is often a clean miss.
I wish there were more hunters like you with a deep respect for the animal and the sport.

it sucks no matter what the range..hell it happens to bowhunters at 20 yards
