I have the Tikka T-3 Lite in .270, stainless.  Shoots pretty darn straight right out of the box.  It's also light and easy to handle.

300 mag sounds good to me!  Check out the vanguards, they are very accurate rifles and you and they have lots of options for finish and stocks.  7mm is also a great caliber, you can use it on most game here, never had a use for it though with a 300 mag and 264 mag in the safe.
