Stock choke or aftermarket?
« on: September 27, 2011, 05:16:11 PM »
Just bough a all black synthetic stock Remington 1187. Come with the standard choke but not sure if its any good. Just wondering if you guys change yours out or keep the stock one cause its just fine  :dunno: There are so many out there and its hard to pick one without shooting all of them. I hunt geese and ducks over water and land. Probably shooting 30-40 yards MAX! any help appreciated
This is the year im going to get drawn, i can feel it. NOT SELECTED, NOT SELECTED, NOT SELECTED, NOT SELECTED, NOT SELECTED, NOT SELECTED... damn :(

I replace the flush tubes with extended tubes. Two reasons one with an extended you can check to see if the tube is tight without removing a chambered shell and two aftermarket are made a lot better than factory. I prefer Truelock tubes because of the warranty and they stand up to all types of shot lead to steel. Also note I use a IC (Improved Cylinder) 99% of the time the other 1% I use Skeet.

My vote would be pattern the factory mod and imp cyl chokes, with the load you use, it will probably do fine.. i usually use factory mod chokes in both of mine for waterfowl..
