Salmon Daily catch limit question
« on: September 27, 2011, 04:18:58 PM »
So, if I fish out in the salt water and catch a limit of salmon, take them home, can I go to a river and catch a salmon limit in that river? Here are the only things I could find in the regs.

Daily Limit The maximum number or pounds
of fish, shellfish, or seaweed of a given species
and size which a person may legally keep in a
single day.

Possession Limit The number of daily limits
allowed to be kept in the field or in transit.

Possession Limit Salmon - Two daily limits of fresh salmon.
An additional 40 pounds of salmon may be
possessed in a frozen or processed form.

Don't matter where you get em your only allowed a daily limit of salmon. so if the daily limit is 2 in the salt and 3 in the river you can catch 2 in the salt and one in the river or three in the river and 0 in the salt from my understanding...?

seems pretty straightforward to me.
Now if you were of the mind to drop them off at home, and go fishing anyways, it would be hard to prove.

You catch a legal one and record it on your catch record, repeat until limit is met.

If you limited out and went back out, they would look at yor catch record and depending on whether you were honest and filled it out, they would cite you and probably take your gear.
( unless you speak russian and or spanish, chinese, korean or any other language besides english)

Not saying going back out in the salt, (same area), can't you read? The salt is like fishing a lake in fresh water then fishing in a river. Daily limit for trout is 5 fish. So whats the difference? You catch 2 in area 6, punch your card with area 6. Then fish a river for salmon and punch your card with that rivers code. Your Possession limit for salmon is two daily limits +40 lbs possessed in a frozen or processed form.
Here is what the Reg.s say about trout;
TROUT: The combined daily limit for an angler that fishes in both rivers and lakes on the same day is 5 TROUT. In the combined daily limit, only 2 TROUT may be from rivers, except as provided for EASTERN BROOK TROUT.

If you could not fish in other areas for salmon after you caught a limit in one area then why doesn't the reg.s give you a combined daily limit like for trout?

Daily Limit The maximum number or pounds

You know the answer.  You are just trying to play an endless game with words and definitions to allow you to break the rules.  You know what the law, ethics and morality say here.  You are looking for a dodge around the rules and law.

You are only allowed to record 1 daily limit on your catch record.

You can transport 2 daily limits ie.. get stopped after a sat and sun fishin trip- headin home on sunday

BS, I ask because it's not clear. If you think you know it all, show me where it's clear in the reg.s!!!! Not trying to dodge anything. Was sitting with some buddys and this topice can up. So, stop busting my balls. It is clear for Trout not salmon.

Daily Limit The maximum number or pounds
of fish, shellfish, or seaweed of a given species
and size which a person may legally keep in a
single day.

You May Not:
Possess fish or shellfish that do not meet the
minimum and maximum size limits, weight limits,
or sex restrictions, or that are in excess of the
daily or possession limit.

Continue to fish for salmon after the adult
portion of the daily limit has been retained.

Pretty straight forward.
Really,, what more do you need???
