Looking for good deer hunting in Washougal or Wind River Units
« on: October 04, 2011, 12:38:37 PM »
I was wondering if anyone knew of a good place to hunt at in either of these units. I have hunted around carson a few times, and also up washougal river road as well. I always see lots of other hunters, but not much deer. Any ideas? Thanks!
That wasn't me! It was a black Camaro! It went that way!

I'm assuming modern? Deer in both areas but don't expect to see many as numbers are not what they once were. Washougal unit somewhat of a sleeper unit until late buck in November. Lots of roads and recent logging. And hunters.

Carson area not known any longer as a great deer producer due to decreased or non existent logging. Heavily timbered. Steep. Most of the cuts are now overgrown. But for the guy putting in the time you can find your buck. I suggest driving the road systems in both, find an area you like and put your time in. Patience is the key.
Can't we all just get along?

Thanks. Yes it has been like this for several years now. There were still a lot of deer in these areas up until the late '90s. Haven't hunted them in the last couple years and was thinking about trying them again. Last time I hunted near Carson, we didn't see a single deer. And we went back up to the same spot for elk season a few weeks later and there were deer all over the place! Just the way it is sometimes, lol!

Thanks again!
