Looking for a spot near ellensburg to take a disabled hunter out
« on: September 28, 2011, 12:50:25 PM »
got a call from fish and game about a disabled hunter in a wheel chair who wants to go muzzy deer hunting this week.  I was hoping I could get some intel or permission on some property that holds deer in the ellensburg general vicinity.  PM ME if you can help me out with some info or numbers to call thanks.

I would really like to the this guy a deer.  He's a neat old man w/ serebralpalsy

I hunt just north of ellensburg, tabletop mt.  There are really good fs roads that head up there.  However, deer densities are really low there.  Too bad you aren't taking the guy for elk.  That mountain is crawling with elk.  There are many more deer down in the flatlands, outside eburg, than up in the mountain.  That is all private, I hope someone can hook you up with a landowner.

My brother is in a wheelchair.  I really appreciate what you are doing for a disabled hunter that you don't even know.  Good luck to you guys.

If nobody can hook you up with a hunting spot down low, let me know.  I'll pm you directions for getting up the mountain.

I can't help you out, but I would encourage you to check out   http://www.ballsandchain.org/  it is a group that has been helping handicapped kids and adults hunt. I was introduced to this last year from a friend of mine who has built two wheelchairs that hold rifles and allow a quad to shoot from the chair. The next project is a chair for a young man who was ran over on his bike and the driver never stopped. I have offered to build the next rifle, and am anxious to help. I know this does not get you the answer to your question, but do check it out and be inspired.

We plan on taking alot of pictures today, hopefully with a buck down!  Everyone wish us luck, as it takes a lot of work to pack in with all the gear and a wheelchair.  But it is very rewarding and sundance will agree with me, when I say it just feels right. It's priceless to see Pat, the disabled man's excitement and smiling face.  If we could get a deer down for him, it would be even more of an unforgettable experience than it already has been.   Pictures to come by saturday. STAY POSTED

Dead bambi or not, simply providing the experience will create lasting memories for all of you, not just the hunter. So, good luck, take lots of pics along they way, whack a good one, and let us know.

Exceptional story!  Thanks for taking some of your least available asset, time, and giving it so freely!  You added hope to a life of struggle, and that's much more than most of us can say.
Bring a GPS!  It's awkward to have to eat your buddies!
