 Whew,it was all I could do to get the 300 grain bullets down the barrel of my bighorn. Was worried once that I wouldnt be able to get one seated.Finally did.My friggin hand still hurts. After shooting a half dozen I gave up.Shot a few 300 Hornaday SSTs. They loaded ok and shot ok.Didnt get to spend enough time with them to dial in a good a load though.The Buffalo bullet boat tails that I have been shooting,shoot pretty good.May try to mess with the Hornadys a little more to get a little better accuracy.May try some of the Speer bonded bullets. Hate spending $25 or $30 a box to find out I cant get them down my barrel though.

Had the same problem a few years ago with knights lead bullets.Talked to the guys at Knight.Said ya they were tight,put some bore butter on them and they will slide a little better.It didnt help much then.Didnt help much tonight.These bullets were so tight i was afraid of getting too much pressure in my barrel.Dont know if thats possible or not.But it was running through my head.If a guy needed a second shot on an animal it would have taken quite awhile.

My Bighorn shoots the Buffalo bullet company special sabot spitzer boat tail pretty well.They load good too.May just stick with them this year and mess with a copper jacketed bullet next year.When I have more time to find one that fits my rifel well.And shoots well out of it.

are you cleaning the barrel after every shot. you should do this when sighting in. its a pain but it works alot better. you may want to get some jb bore paste and polish up the bore. alot of sabots leave residue in the barrel. try running a patch down the barrel after every shot with a little windex. there may be some rough spots in the rifling depending on how many times you have shot it. i had this issue with my bighorn. i shoot hornandy 250 sst's out of my wolverine. have not tried the bloodlines. the jb bore paste will help with accuracy talk with sabotloader on here. he is working on my bighorn for me.

Yep,I run a wet patch then  dry patch after every shot. Helps with accuracy,but a saboted bullet shouldnt load that hard. Ive had this Bighorn for several years.Always had trouble with any Knight bullets being too tight.No other brand has had that issue.

I use the TC 300 Gr. Shock wave sabots and they seem to load and shoot very well.  I had mine out today and shot 7 times at 50, 100, 150 and 185.  All but one bullet hit it's mark (full water jugs).  I use 110 grains of pyrodex loose powder and am comfortable with shooting out to 200 yards (as long as I have a steady rest). 

I also swab my bore with TC Bore cleaner (once) and a clean / dry patch (once) after every shot.  Obviously if I am in the field I will only use a dry patch for a fast reload.

HntnFsh-  Do you have a good supply of those Buffalo Bullets? That's the same bullet I used to use, but they're now out of business. Do you know of anyplace that is still selling them? If you want to try a bullet that is very similar, look at these:   http://www.prbullet.com/pts.htm.

Ive got a couple boxes left.Last i looked the Gun shop had some in.I can check for you next time I'm down that way.I'll look at the bullets you listed.Havent tried the harvesters.But have heard people say they have lost accuracy with them.Dont know if thats a reality.But have heard it.

You might want to try using a true .45 sabot with a .44 bullet to see if that loads any easier.

I don't have a 50 caliber anymore anyway, and that's the one I used to shoot the Buffalo Bullets out of. I've only got my Lyman .54 now and it's kind of hard to find bullets in that caliber. I'm not hunting deer or elk with a muzzleloader this year so I'm not needing any bullets anytime soon.
 
I sure did like those Buffalo Bullets because they shot good and I could get them from Cabelas for $18 for a box of 36. I don't enjoy shooting as much when it's between $1.00 and $2.00 every time I pull the trigger (just for the bullet, not counting powder and cap).
 
I may actually try some Powerbelts in it next time I get a chance.       I'm not a fan of the all-lead ones, but the jacketed ones are now legal and I think they might not open up too quickly like the leads Powerbelts do.

ive had issues with knight bullets being hard to load as well. i have a wolverine and a bighorn. try a different sabot like a harvester or a mmp. i have some crush rib sabots i use with my knight lead bullets. mmp makes some good sabots as well. most manufacturers like knight,hornandy and barnes use them. the mmp hph24 load easy and hold good groups. send a email to harvester they will send you some samples for free.
