The rut is starting in the canyon.   First of all, I found a herd of 35 ewes and babes on the Umpt side.   That was happy news with the recent death toll.   There was one ram with all those ewes and he was going crazy.   Just the beginning.

The 194 1/2 ram was a beautiful ram killed by a Hunter from Arizona in the Asotin who was guided. I had the other Asotin tag and killed another very nice ram which scored 190 5/8. I can send someone a picture if they want to post it. I tried to post one earlier today but it kicked it back and I am trying to catch up on things as I spent most of my free time this summer scouting and hunting with the sheep tag. Great hunt and unit. If the Indians are kept somewhat in check and there is no disease in the unit the state record will probably be beaten again in the next few years right now there are some great young rams that just need age to really score high.
