Very nice rig.  IMO you have appear to have earned the right for the long shot. If you are willing to work that hard to become proficient and extend your range, then the shot by definition would be ethical for you.  Same as some people (we all know who they are) who never practice with their rifle except and afternoon to "sight in", should not be shooting past 150 yards.  The "ethics" is determined by skill not distance.  :twocents:

By the way that is a crazy high BC for the bullet, I am going to have to load some up.

Ya... I always say, if you can't put the first shot exactly where it's supposed to go, it's too far no matter how close it is. The BC is awesome and with the long barrel I'm running WSM velocities (for a standard length barrel of course). Another buddy of mine is having an identical rifle build for a long range steel team match held near Kettle Falls, WA. Allot of the matches are starting to say no more magnums (they tend to knock down target stands). It's good to find a standard cartridge/bullet combo that offers magnum ballistics.

Here's a buck from pre-season scouting (I was hunting bear at the time plus scouting for bucks)... saw two that were bigger than him, but they didn't bed down to have their picture taken.

I saw your post of this hunt on Seattle Guns a while back, and told some of my friends to check it out. That is a nice heavy buck. Good looking rifle too. I really like how you earned that buck. I don't care what anyone says, if you pack into the high country, and take a mature animal, you've earned it, no matter what the range is.

There is no load data on the Matrix page.  Do you know if they have any.  Also that is a mighty long bullet, what is the OAL for that load?  Maybe to long for a standard magazine and increased chamber pressure.  Do you load them yourself?
