I had issues with poachers driving in to spotlight on an area I managed that was closed to motorized entry. I hired a guy with a backhoe to put the biggest rocks he could handle in the middle of the fencebreak where they would drive into the fields. Unfortunately, the grass was so tall, the rocks couldn't be seen - just the closure signs on either side. It gave me a great feeling to visit a few days later and see pieces of grill and lens decorating the tall grass at the end of two abruptly ending tire tracks. I hope they spilled their beer all over themselves. I also enjoyed replacing torn off plastic signs, with new signs backed with heavy industrial grease, that really sticky red stuff that is tough to get off, holds every bit of dirt and debris it contacts, and stains whatever it touches.
When you see them in there with vehicles, and windows down, it is always advisable to say that you saw the game warden or security or sheriff in the last hour that was looking for motorized vehicle tresspassers due to previous reports. The look on their face will either change or they will tell you about the key and permission they have. When the look on their face changes, they usually turn around and head back for the gate.
Why is it that every time I walk or ride my bike into an area, I end up running into quads/motorcyles/trucks? Anyone else been having this problem? Specifically I am talking about areas around Shelton, mainly Green Diamond and Port Blakely. The 800 mainline has had the gate open on some days, even if its closed both Kelly road and cougarsmith are open, but it says right on the gate its closed to motorized access, I imagine they are waiting until rifle deer to open it, as they have done in the past. Everyone I've talked to wants to just play dumb and say they didn't know. Last night the gate to the 800 line was closed, I still ran into some young kids in a Toyota, riding in the passenger seat was a kid I talked to 2 nights before... who said the gate was open and he didn't know he wasn't allowed back there. BS.I know I sound like a whiney girl but I always follow the rules and do things the hard way, only to still get pissed on by other dip*censored*s who don't care.
I would advise getting a bag of nails from the hardware store and carrying them with you. It all of a sudden becomes fun when you hear one coming. I'm always looking for ways to make a bad situation better.

I'm always looking for ways to make a bad situation better. Believe me I'm always trying to think of ways to give them a couple flat tires. Problem is someone who is doing it the right way and walking in could get hurt, or one of the timber company employees could get a flat... not worth getting back at the quad and motorcycle guys at the risk of others. I have however stuffed pop cans full of nails and put them in the trails around the gates left by the cheaters, not sure if it has worked but the cans always end up getting crushed

At least according to norsepeak (member on this site). You cannot ride an ATV on the roads but cross country is just fine.
