Wall Tent Repair???
« on: September 30, 2011, 10:39:25 PM »
I have a 12X14 wall tent that I bought with buckle type straps for the door.  When I originally ordered it, the company told me that the zippers are always the first thing to go on a tent and they recommended I use the buckles instead.  After quite a few years of use, I am opting for a zipper.  The buckles don't seem to keep the cold out that well.   I would prefer a good tight seal on my door....
So, now I have to find a shop that will sew in a zipper for me.  Any suggestions anyone?  I'm on the west side and would prefer to find a shop somewhere between Seattle and Everett or Eastside....

I would appreciate any suggestions!!

i would try calling an upholstery shop. car or furniture, and just ask if they will do it. you,ll get one that will say yes. but who ever does it is going to have to have an industrial sewing machine to be able to punch a hole through that canvas material plus the zipper cloth so using your moms "singer" ainte gonna work. if i owned a machine i would do it for yah but there not cheap and cant figure i would use it enough to burn the money on one.
they call me the bloodhound cause i can track a wounded animal in the rain for 2 days when all it has is a splinter.. sniff sniff awooo

Rainier Tent in North Kent/South Renton!  I just had them put in a stove jack in my side wall.  The quote over the phone was $100.00 out the door for everything.  When I picked it up it ended up being $87.00 out the door, and they made a storage bag for my sidewall.  The turnaround time was right at a week.

I know of a gentleman here in Ferndale who mainly sews and repairs the canvas on boats....but he sewed a stove pipe jack into my wall tent and he's repaired zippers on some buddies wall tents as well.  PM me if you're still looking for somebody.

John

Thanks for your help.  I contacted Rainer Tent and received the following quote.
"Thank you for your interest with Rainier Industries. My name is James. Below I have put together a rough estimate on your request. Please keep in mind that this is just an estimate and is based off time and material.  Please fill free to contact me if you have any questions.
Labor Time: 4-5 Hours @ $65 Hr
Estimate $275 t/m + (time and Materials) "

After talking with MightyWhite, I called Everett Tent and Awning.  They quoted me a price of $65 + tax  with a 7-10 working day turnaround time.

I am on my way to Everett Tent & Awning.

Thanks again!!!

that quote seems high for Rainier they patched a entire wall (stove problems :bash:) and fixed every grommet and zipper on my buddies tent last year for like 150 buck but they do quality work.

I would assume that when it is crunch time and they are very busy the price goes up.
275 down 2
