My second chance buck " Video Added"
« on: October 01, 2011, 10:20:37 PM »
Well my story starts out last sunday the 25Th of Sept. It was my 30Th birthday and I was hunting mule deer near my home town. I was having a great day finding lots of game "mainly elk". I was on my last push hunting towards my camp and I thought I'd check out one more draw before breaking camp and heading home. As I walked into the draw I spotted more elk and was gingerly walking down towards the bottom when I see this little spike muley looking at me about 80 yards out, well he had me busted good and about two seconds latter a four point jumps up and is staring me down  well in my haste and Lack there of patience With a good broad side shot I must have tickled his belly cuss he jumped four feet into the air. "First thought" oh chit I missed well to my surprise there were four bucks a spike, two 3x3s and the 4x4. Well I reloaded with great speed, the bucks lined out across  the hill 150yards out and slow down Here's my chance I see the 4x4 and decide to hold a little high. Guess what happens when your sighted in at 100 yards and you hold high, you shoot over there back :bash:. Well that was it  I watched my would be trophy run away with two other very nice bucks in tow. I get back to camp and my soon to be wife has every thing ready to go home truck loaded down and warmed up.
So I decided to take my two daughter's back up there on the fallowing Friday, I pull them out of school early and we make our 4 hour drive back to camp. We saw more deer on the way in and a small heard of elk. Well we were just arriving at camp and I was looking down at our camp, and my oldest daughter at age of 7 says  buck, buck, buck I look up as I'm driving to see nothing but horns on the hill side. So I drive past the deer and jump out of the truck obscured from the deers vision, I tell my self "alright Mat calm the hell down and make the shot". I walk back slowly and the buck is 60 yards up hill broad side next to a doe. I nailed him and he dropped like a sack of potatoes, I put one more in the kithen just cuss the first shot was a little high and I didn't want the buck to suffer in the slightest.  After the first shot three more bucks come out from the sage brush Two nice 3x3s and a spike I'm thinking no way It cant be but it was the buck I missed five days earlier. A perfect 4x4 My first muzzleloader buck, first 4 point and the best part was my girls were there to see it all. :) PS. yes I did tag this buck seconds latter after the first pic's In the last pic the tag is taped inside the ear

Very cool. You should submit the pic with your two girls for one of the photo contests. That is a great shot. Awesome that you were able to have them there with you.
