I busted one this morning. :chuckle:    Day early and a dollar short.   Oh well, I bet there are more in the Wenas.  AND NO, I won't stick him in the freezer and pull him out tomorrow :chuckle:

Bone, I don't think there is a problem entering him tommorrow. The WDFW is writing the other permits so we can enter big game taken this fall when we get the permit the seasons will have already ended. I wrote the coyote rules so everyone can enter their coyotes in the contest. Several guys are planning on entering photos of the yotes already taken this fall/winter.

It says:
3.  Only Coyotes May Be Entered Coyotes must have been taken during the 2011 Fall and early 2012 Winter hunting season. NO ROADKILL
4.  Entries Accepted Submit photos beginning 12:01 am Dec 10, 2011 to Midnight Feb 28, 2012.

Did you mean "biggest coyote"? There are already guys waiting to enter coyotes.

That is correct, any previous photos are not entered. Anyone in the contest needs to wait till after midnight.

Recieved two clarifications from WDFW minutes ago, I will modify rules slightly to reflect this:

• Coyotes that are harvested outside Washington cannot be a part of the contest.  Washington statute(s) and rule(s) for ‘hunting contests’ only apply to Washington and Washington wildlife.
• All team members, including guests, are required to have a Washington hunting license (small game or any big game license) to harvest coyotes.

O.k ...Are we talking coyotes that have been called in or everything goes except road kills ....The guys on the eastside have a little advantage over us guys on the westside ..there is so much area over there they can drive around all day and kill coyotes .... just asking because I have only counted ones I have called in but I am not opposed to drive bys as long as I know what everyone else is doing  :dunno:

If you shoot a coyote, it counts. Doesn't matter your method of hunting. Dead is dead. I think running one down in the road with your truck should count too, but maybe not.  :chuckle:

I had assumed tlbradford meant "dead on road" so that is what I meant. I think as long as hunting regulations are foillowed, coyotes taken by any legal means should be allowed. For example I hunt a lot of farms with internal private roads and mountain roads that are legal to shoot a coyote along. If anyone does not understand which types of roadways are legal to shoot along, you had better check before hunting.

Perhaps someone can offer legal clarification on this for everyones benefit. We do not want any mistakes by anyone, it would decrease our chances of being permitted again.

I think there is an obvious reason you get 3 points for westside coyotes. :twocents:

Prizes: We now have donated prizes for each winner!

Now is a good time to look for any other flaws in these rules.......
