Can not shoot either of these in Idaho... The have to be full bore - lead conicals...

Yeah I kinda thought so but I was going by what he said- that the only difference between Idaho and Washington is that Idaho doesn't allow sabots...

Yes, we are still in the Oregon boat... Washington is more progressive than either of us..

Keep shooting muzzleloaders - They are a blast!!

Right- but I'm not sure that's a good thing.   :dunno:

Basically, Washington is more like California, correct? Is that what you're saying?   :bash:

Sabotloader,
Hunting somewhere around the Nov.10th-24th have a 52a tag.  Shooting traditions vortec northwest magnum and trying to find a good accurate non sabot bullet and load.

I really do not know much about the Traditions so I have no ideal of bore size to gauge anything on.  I can tell you that I tried all the different bulk conicals from my 1-28 rifles and did not have much luck with any of them - accuracy wise.  For me the .503 lead conical acts like a sabot fit.... it is designed to be a slip fit to your bore - no short starter need - just push it in with your thumb and push it down with the ram rod.

My basic load is 80-90 grains of T7-3f, with a .510x.125 shot card on top of the powder, then the .503-460 grain bullet.  I use #11 mag caps for ignition.

The shot card is to insulate the bottom of the bullet from the heat of the powder to keep it from melting the lead on the bottom of the bullet.  And the card also keeps the lube on the bullet from reaching down and possibly contaminating a portion of the powder.

If the .503 would work in your bore I think you would really like the results.  If you call Dave @ NO-Excuse bullets he will send you a box of bullets out in the mail right away and expect you to send in a check in the mail to him, so you get the product in a hurry.
Keep shooting muzzleloaders - They are a blast!!

If your Powerbelts are not grouping at all make sure it's a clean hole.... They will tumble if your powder charge is too high from my experience.... I had to back off from 150 grains to 130 grains.... I have a 1 in 28 twist with a 26" barrel.... I get 2-4" groups @ 100 yards with PB....

Precision has all lead conicals that seem like they should work for you.
It's better to have a gun and not need it than to need one and not have it.                                                                             Local 66 sheetmetal workers
