Clemans

Just sitting here at home waiting for my wife to go in labor while my party is hunting elk on Clemans.  Early reports from them are the elk are pretty scarce right now.  They have bumped a few and heard a couple shots but thats it.  I thought for sure that they would have at least 2-3 hanging by now with two cow tags in camp, but that isn't the case.  Anyone one else have any luck up there yet?

ive been up there deer hunting last two weekends and finally seen elk in the woods on friday, day before the ML elk opener. a nice spike and dandy 6pt. spike was just feeding and 6pt standing in the road, had about 12 cows with him. rode right up on them on my quad heading up the moutain and stopped and glassed them for a little bit. they were only about 60 yards away.

That is too funny!  and how hunting goes.....Buddy still lives in Selah and was heading up there quite a bit before the opener, seeing them in the usual spots.  Guess the elk are a little bit more savy!

I was in your position last year and boy was it tough to not go....the worst is the build up to the hunt and the feeling of not going...this will soon pass and the delivery will be worth the wait.  Best of luck to your hunting party and hopefully they're keeping you posted to help the feelings of not being there.  The good news is that you'll be able to celebrate the birthday in the woods for all the years to come with your child.  Both my brother and myself have birthdays during hunting season and it's always nice to celebrate it around the campfire or in the woods.

Thanks guys.  It is tough, but it will be worth it having a healthy baby and mom.  Been getting daily updates and teasings from the guys.

saw a herd at 430 am in my headlights heading to my spot opening day, then a few later on. The next day saw 4 or 5 move into a draw. When I snuck in there they vanished!! After that did not see anything.  Its amazing how big that country is!

I was out there for 3 days and hit it hard. I hiked and sat and glassed, etc. Several of  the draws. Coulda shot a 5X6 but not tag.... Did not see any hanging in any camp.

They got one spike.  No bull tag, which is too bad cause that's about all they have seen.  Side note to this thread, wife is being induced on Monday.  Maybe there is still a chance at a buck!

  Not much better here on the manastash.  Filled my tag today but it wasnt easy.  Out from light to dark, and finally ran into a cow.  Happy to put my tag on her!

There were lots of people runnin around Clemans opening day from what I was being told be guys stopping by my camp.  Everyone that came by said it was a zoo.
