In this part of the country these guns are worth between $400 and $600, because they aren't that popular. Back East they are worth more because the whitetail hunters seem to really like them, same thing as the Remington Model 760 & 742 (7600-7400). My brother has used a model 88 since 1961, and I have used one for over ten years. They are the only lever action that I know of that have rotating bolt locking lugs similar to a bolt action rifle. They are accurate rifles that were ahead of their time. In my opinion. Edited to add; that my brother's gun has a four digit serial number. The lower serial numbers in good condition will be at the higher end of the value range.

Sounds like it may be a pre 1964, According to the Blue Book anywhere from $350-$1,100. .308 would be the most common.

Tough market to say what a gun's worth. It's usually best to judge what a gun is worth  by what people are paying for them. Have a look at gunbroker.com or gunsamerica.com and go from there.

Awesome rifle!  My dad has one he has used exclusively since he bought it used in the 60's.

If its truly MINT, with a 3 digit number I would put it close to $800 retail. VERY VERY few of these are 98+%

I sold a Model 88 in .284 on gunbroker not all that long ago for $850, I think it was.  It was in poor to middling shape but in a more desirable caliber, so your .308 should be in that ball park would be my guess.
