I'd happily be a pack mule every weekend if I got to hear bugling like that again!  And the growls, and roars ....... the hair on my neck stands up just thinking about all the sounds those bulls were making. 

And how about that knock down drag out fight those 2 big boys were having ..... AFTER John's bull was down and WHILE we were hollaring across the canyon at each other??   

I can say this ...... 2 elk packed out in 36 hours makes for some damn sore muscles from head to toe ....... and I can't wait to do it again next year

Congrats on your first elk. What an experience it must have been. I can't say there are any sounds in nature that are better than a bull that is screaming his head off. Great story and pic, I love the smile!!
