Swanson Lakes/ GMU 136
« on: October 05, 2011, 03:58:22 PM »
Anyone have some advice for a novice mulie hunter on where to go in this area? I have property in Lincoln so anywhere near Creston/Davenport/Wilbur works. I'm thinking about Swanson Lakes or the Twin Lakes areas but am unsure about how to actually get to the areas coming off of Hwy 2. Thanks in advance!

Telford road leads into Swanson lakes. There is plenty of blm land along lake Roosevelt if you have a boat.

What about with out a boat?  Is there much public land in there?  I am going to be over in that area with my son and he has a second doe tag too.

Swanson lakes is a tough hunt. Walking on that broken basalt is hard on your feet. I hunt it lot for ducks and upland birds, quail mostly. Never seen great numbers of deer there. I see more deer on private property around the public land. Bring you spotting scope, bino's and a flat shooting gun, if you go! Good luck!
