looking for your hotspot
« on: October 06, 2011, 09:58:41 PM »
I really don't want to waste any time scouting so please let me know where your favorite blinds are at.  I'd really appreciate if you'd make sure only to list spots that have nice blinds already set up so I don't have to work too much cutting material as I'd rather drink coffee sitting on my ass waiting for shooting hours.  I'd also be okay joining someone 5 minutes before shooting hours as long as you have the dekes set and you have a good dog.  Thanks in advance for your advice.   :chuckle:

you forgot the boat.  it needs to be at the dock with preprogrammed gps directions to the blind...

Will you be bringing your own shotgun and shells or would you prefer that they be left there for your enjoyment?  :chuckle:

My hotspot is along that certain river under the flyway, down by that one marsh, the blind is set up by the old beaver damn... the one old farmer Jones tried to blow up with a stick of dynamite.... you know the one...
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Well, not sure which one is gonna be my favorite this year but, of the five I have, the north one on the west fenceline holds the most promise this year. Since you've asked for my hotspot why don't I just give you the locations of all of them just in case.......here goes: three on the west fenceline (north, south and middle), one over by the old growth stump and my floating one that can be moved around as needed. Three of the five have shelves for your coffee cup, so thats covered. They'll be 2 dozen fully flocked Mallard decoys in slot bags at one of them (have to move them as needed), they'll be comfy, folding chairs with armrests out there somewhere (probably where the decoys are and can be moved as needed), two of the blinds need a little bit more grassing in but, theres lots of that around (the clippers are in the north blind along the west fenceline). If you want a challenge, you could move your chair over to "Teal Alley" and setup under the willow and limit yourself to Greenwinged teals drakes. They'll be close. Bring 2 3/4 #7 steel. Thats over by the old growth stump and just a little to the east (can't miss it). If it's geese you want, head straight east from the west fencerow north blind and setup by the metal grated footbridge. Steel #BB's will be fine 'cept on windy day's a feller might want to use #2's. After the hunt the missus likes to cook homemade pancakes with both real maple syrup and the fake *hit as well as either bacon or sausage, egg's any way you like, coffee, juice, fruit, hot applesauce (with or without cinnamon), real butter (salted) (she loves to entertain) and she'll cleanup. After that I'll have a bottle of Jack for a little nip to wash it all down with (this years "Dog of the Year" is a Chocolate lab) as you sit on the porch of the cabin (overlooking the hunting area, binoculars are inside the cabin) in rocking chairs soaking in what just happened. If it's too cold or windy to sit outside you can fire up the wood heater (there's 2 cord of dry alder and maple to the east). There's some board game's in the cabin if you want and there is about a dozen or so old hunting book's (mostly duck hunting stories) there too. If you have too much Jack the loveseat folds out into a bed and the bedding is in the loft (it's freshly washed). Theres a radio there too, woo hoo. Can't help you with the dog part. My old dog died on 08/22/11 (best dog I have ever had, miss her, she's buried next to the cabin). There's a framed picture of her hanging on the north wall of the cabin.....don't touch it, I'll kill ya! The new pup is a bit rusty right now and should have the bug's worked out soon but she's not ready to hand off to unknown folk's looking for location's of peoples' duck hunting honey holes! Happy hunting this year!

That is the spot... if you see ole one eyed Billy Bob..... make sure to get him to show you his brand new shotgun he won from his brother's, cousins, second wife's bird dog breeder's, grand daddy in a beer chugging contest.. it is a purty shotgun...   :chuckle: :chuckle:

I was thinking you could use this opportunity to get back at those guys who are always skybusting....send them about 50 new hunters to enjoy.  :dunno:
