Kahlotus muzzleloader special permit success!
« on: October 07, 2011, 04:09:36 PM »
It was pouring rain all morning while I was stalking this buck with 5 others. I was on hands and knees for over 2 1/2 hours trying to get close enough. They were bedded on a north facing draw with little to no cover to speak of. I had to backtrack numerous times to try and find a way I wouldn't be seen. The rain sure made for great hunting conditions, but man did I get soaked! Well I lucked out and got this buck with a 104 yd shot, he was the biggest of the bunch. He is 27" and a true trophy for me.  :)What a great hunt!!!

You should be very proud of that buck.  I'd be surprised if you could find 5 guys out of the thousands on here who would pass him!  Congrats!!

Yes I was definitely concerned with a misfire! I did put some electrical tape over the muzzle the night before, and changed percussion caps right before I took the shot. I took the tape off right before also. Was wondering if it would have affected my accuracy if I kept it on :dunno:

I think the muzzle pressure would take care of that tape for you  :twocents:
