Would you trade?
« on: October 10, 2011, 08:55:14 AM »
Got a buddy who wants to trade my springfield savage model 67f chambered in .410 for a hi-point 9mm with muzzle break, 2 clips and holster. I'm not big on hi-point but a good camp pistol might not be a bad idea. Thoughts?
Some animals WERE harmed in the making of this Hunter. They were also dragged through the dirt, butchered and tasted delicious fried with butter and bacon.

When attempting to place a value as compared to each other it's a wash. If you want the handgun and he wants the shotgun, well then, there you go. The value of any given firarm, not understood by many isn't MSRP or some number in the latest cheesy paper back gun value book. Its what people are paying for them at the time and allot of factors come in to play there.

In my oppion a gun not used oftern is a waste of $$$ and safe space. 1 if the 410 has no sentimental value. 2 not used very often 3 can be truned into cash or something else you can use...  :twocents:

If you don't shoot the Savage. Sell it or give it to a kid that needs a Grouse gun.  I wouldn't trade a flat spare tire for a High Point 'anything'.

So hi points aren't really popular... trade it in on a gun you can use then... or post it up in the classifieds...  :dunno:

Guns rarely go down in value unless you do something to the condition of it and almost always go up in value.  Guns are a great long term investment.

I own 3 hi points and love them all. ONly very occassionaly with my 9mm do I ever have any issue at all. Everyone is a while I will have a Failure to feed but thats it. I was told by  some gun snobs if they had to choose between a rock and a hi-point they would choose a rock everytime. I almost wanted to say fine you take a rock and I take a hi-point and see how confident you are in that it will fail. :twocents:

I would make that trade. My buddy has a hi point 995 carbine and I would love to have it.. Its a lot of fun to shoot. and I have personally put at least 250 problem free rounds thru it. Its on my list to get. Pretty suprising how far and accurate you can shoot 9mm in a carbine compared to a pistol.. Of course a 9mm upper for my AR would be better but much more expensive.

I may be in the minority opinion here and that is OK with me.. I think ANY gun in a common gauge or caliber is much better sitting in your safe than an exotic, unless you are a nut for that gun caliber... or some other reason.. I am unfamiliar with that particular 410, so unless it has some collector quality to it i would more apt to trade it for  a pistol, rifle or shotgun of very standard use... you are correct that guns don't really go down in value, and become worth a lot more in emergencies... Guns are only as usefull as the availability of ammo, so if it were me i would own a second 12 0r 20 gauge, 22lr or a second 06 308 270 etc.  :twocents:

Add homeboy sights to the hi point and it will triple its value.

They are pretty good for pounding nails or clubbing fish too. High-Point carbines actually kick ass but the pistols are just junk.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

I think I've seen these sights... do they go on the side of the gun? So you can hold it sideways and still aim?
