Anyone have any suggestions on what kind of solvent or cleaner to clean the action and gas ports on a semi-auto shotgun?

I don't use solvent in the ports. I run a paperclip through them to keep them open. For the rest, I use Hoppe's. I may be doing it wrong, but my gun's in pretty good shape.
