crossing the crest
« on: October 13, 2011, 07:34:32 AM »
I was wondering with the east side general season being a week earlyer than the west, Do elk get pushed across the crest trail from the little naches (346) into the white river to escape the sea of orange I have heard so much about.

maybe a few that range right near the crest but I doubt they would travell to far to do that unless they winter on the west side .

I have seen them cross the PCT but they stay within 1/2 mile from what I've experienced. Mainly they stay on the eastside of the trail tho.

Most the elk are already in the white river side plugger, once you see how open the little naches side is you'll see why. This is just in the area I talked to you about, I have no experience in any other area of little naches.

What part of 346 are you in sirmissalot? The areas that I have hunted in 346 are pretty thick steep and nasty.

The weather looks good so I will be up there sat where you suggested. Just trying to get a little insight on there behavior up there. I'm used to chasing swamp elk in the dickey. This high altitude stuff is new to me. Thank you everyone for the info.
