Never been so excited
« on: October 14, 2011, 09:51:33 AM »
This will be my 21st year of hunting, and I'm as excited about it as much as that first year when I turned 11.  My 7 year old daughter at the time passed her hunters safety this year, she turned 8 in Sept and will be hunting with me for the first time with a tag in her pocket.  She's all geared up and ready and can't wait for Saturday.  Now I know the feeling you other parents have with your little hunting buddies going.  Got me the eberlestock gunslinger pack with the scabbard so I can carry hers and my rifle, and all ready to beat feet Saturday morning.  Hoping to find a easy young buck that doesn't mind hanging around a little extra longer, but already got her mind set not to be disappointed if she doesn't get a buck this year, but we are going to give it are all.  I have never been skunked on deer, and have been lucky enough to tag out every year, I have helped many adults get their first deer or a deer, including the wife.  This will be the toughest task I've taken on hunting as to date with her being so young, but ill guarantee ill eat my first tag this year if she eats hers.  My guns going in the scabbard and hers will be in hand ready, wish me luck, and I wish all my fellow hunters the best of luck, be safe, and let the games begin.
When you see the third, thin the herd.
Right now I'm somewhere picking up sheds.

I hear ya man, this will be the first year with my own son. I have taken my nephew and friends kids lots of times before and had a ton of fun with them  but it is different this time and I am pretty pumped

I have been fortunate enough to have taken a few animals but my  best hunt was when I took my eight year old "grandson" on his first hunt and he harvested a doe. I know you are probably more excited and anxious than she is, I know I was. I hope she gets a monster buck. Have fun, be safe, and make memories that will last a lifetime. GOOD LUCK
