Pyrodex?
« on: October 19, 2011, 06:54:28 PM »
All I've shot is Pyrodex.  Is there a better powder?  What's better about it?

Any knowledge appreciated!

Triple 7 is loose powder is all i shoot. Its cleaner, more consistant and you get higher velocity.

All I shoot is Pyrodex pellets, love them clean the bore every 3 shots and deep clean after every 10 or so. Have taken many animals with this method and have never had a misfire.  Hope this helps

It's better to have a gun and not need it than to need one and not have it.                                                                             Local 66 sheetmetal workers

T7 is less corrosive than Pyrodex as well.

I hunted deer with my muzzleloader a month ago. Having never used T7 I wanted to know how long I could wait until cleaning. I asked here and everyone said it had to be cleaned immediately.

I didn't want to clean it,just to re-foul it before hunting the following weekend. I bucked the system and never did clean it. Its been a month now and there is still no sign of corrosion. Back when I shot Pyrodex there would be corrosion in just a day or two.

Tripple 7 loose is what I am shooting. I have had a little better groups with the pyro. The clean up with tripple 7 is 3X faster!
