Shouldn't have shot the *censored*...
« on: October 16, 2011, 10:23:14 AM »
Well i got my deer yesterday in vail. was at the very top of the 3040 road and by 7:15am we saw 9 deer. my buddy spotted this lil guy bedded down before sun up so we sat and waited a lil bit till i could get a shot... well i made the shot and missed  :bash: he was did that little trot away and i made another shot and connected. it entered the front left leg and exited the rear right leg. then the fog came in and i lost him... we sat for a hour or two slowly glassin the area and finally found him. some how he managed to get half to 3/4 down the canyon. i had reconstructive surgery on my ankle and its still not 100% back to where it should be so i was really glad i had my buddy ethan with me because there was no way i was gonna be able to get him out.. my buddy thew the little guy over his shoulders and after almost 4hrs up the canyon we got him out. anyone need a pack mule he works for logs of chew or 26$ hookers.

sorry for the crappy write up but im tired as piss lol happy huntin everyone!

Harold,  I guess I'm confused. Why should you have not shot? Is it because of the size?..... Looks to be a good eats buck or thie distance it travelled after being hit? Sometimes they can go a ways after being hit. I shot a nice 3x3 a few years ago and blew out the top portion of the heart. That deer went about 120 yards before dropping.

I say congrats on some good eats.

I missed that the first time I read this thread. That's comedy gold right there. Not the prettiest belle at the ball, but it'll fill the freezer just the same. Saves on taxidermist costs, right? ;)
