My First deer!!!
« on: October 16, 2011, 08:13:43 PM »

This year I got lucky and drew a antlerless deer tag for GMU 101!  My FIRST YEAR!! :chuckle:

We left for hunting camp on Oct13 after my conference.  We looked for deer the next day but didn't see any.  On opening day, we saw a HUGE muley doe in the road on our way up the mountain.  We got out and tried to stalk her but could not see her in the thick trees.  Through that day we saw nothing but Cows..... but.. later that day just before shooting light was over, we saw a nice muley doe up a hill, we climbed the hill and set up with a rock as a rest, but I couldn't find her in my scope.  She walked away into the timber of the mountain.  As we went to leave, we spotted a big muley doe waaaayyyyyy up a hill.  My dad and I crawled up the hill really far and there was no where to rest my gun.  My dad let me use his back as a rest.  Finally,  I got to shoot.  I saw her drop in her tracks and some blood fly in the air.  As we went up the hill to find her, another doe jumped up and stared at us.  I was sure I had hit my doe, so I didn't shoot again.  We went up the hill fuurrrttther and saw some blood and then more, and then ALOT of blood.  My dad spotted my doe right where she was when I shot.  I shot her right in the nose.. Not where I was aiming but I got lucky I didn't miss or wound her.  I was very happy and proud that I got my first deer. BDD BABY!!! It was awesome.  :IBCOOL:  Then we had to get her off the mountain before it got dark because there was alot of cliffs.  We barely made it, then some nice hunters stopped and helped us get her gutted and loaded in our truck.  After we got home late that night.  We woke up and skinned it, after we skinned it, we saw that it had a little shaving on the hair from dragging it down the mountain.  Can't wait to get her back from the meat shop with my pepperoni and jerky. She weighed 105 lbs without her skin, guts, head.
