I'm with you BrianFL79!  ANYTHING that makes noise should not be used to hunt! Lazy, and you have no idea how many animals you passed up! ATV's, scooters, snowmobiles, etc, they all are worthless for hunting! Now, if noisy summer fun is what you want, have at it! Guess they'll hate me too but I don't give a crap! Noise doesn't belong in the outdoors!

Yes, and the anti-hunters would argue that we don't belong out there either. Everyone has their agenda. The question here must be: Were they riding and hunting legally? If yes, we need to support our fellow hunters regardless of our opinions about their legal activities.

Wow so all the people who have success hunting with those are lazy?  The inuits that use them to hunt caribou and moose are also lazy? I dont think people are lazy and I also dont think these things scare animals the way so many make it out that they do...they hear them all year long if they were truly so scared then the deer would never follow loggers and all their noisy equipment and chainsaws looking for easy grub...

I love how it has gotten lets all blame the other user group for all the ills and lets then divide into user groups by how we hunt and then lets agree that the anti's are winning because we cant all just get along for 5 minutes without pointing our fingers at someone else....if someone is actually breaking the rules turn them in get a plate number and description and turn them in it takes less time than its taking me to type this...yes I have done it....if people are rude out there well people are rude everywhere seems this is a mememe society and many people will stop at nothing to get what they want.....cant fix stupid....

DIVIDED we fall...and fall we will this country is going down the tubes mostly for this reason  :dunno:

So when is the girl that posted this problem going to step in and let us know if the area was designated for ORV.  Stick to your own designated user area.  I hunt the Gifford Pinchot.  Quite a bit of ORV trails.  Have a bike my self.  Didn't even take it off of my truck this year.  Last year I did.  I have a choice to hunt ORV restricted areas, so do you.  Some people don't like stepping in horse crap on the trail.  If you don't want to compete against that user group for animals and quality outdoor time, stay out of the area or find a way to legally change it.

hunters arguing with hunters, keeps the anti's happy. If it is not illegal where they are riding, then what is the point of throwing insults?

It's like the elk baiting issue. It's legal to bait elk. If you (like I) choose not to, that's up to you. Don't put someone else down because they do. We want to go after hunters who flaunt the law, not the ones who obey it.

I just remembered an experience i had,
I used to own a TW200, thought it would be great for getting around up in the Manastash, as it is an ORV area, and the bike is street legal (forest service roads)
I could not figure how to hunt off it, and prefer to hunt behind gates where it is illegal to use motorized vehicles.
BUT, one afternoon I rode to a gate, and because it was a fairly popular gate, I PUSHED my bike around gate and into some bushes, maybe 20 yards past gate.
When I came out after dark there was a guy there that had a temper tantrum, screaming and yelling at me for having a motorcycle behind the gate.
When he paused to take a breath, I calmly explained to him why I had PUSHED it around the gate, and how I had not ridden it behind the gate.
I pushed it back around gate, while he continued to harangue me about how I was "violating the law" by just having it behind the gate.
I again explained that I had not ridden it behind gate, and it was no different than his truck parked at gate (blocking road even) and wished him luck hunting.
I used it to get around, and did not ride it off road, or behind gates, even though there are trails all over unit.
In a legal area, there is nothing wrong with using an ORV to get around.
They just might not see an animal, so what ?
It gives you (foot hunter) an opportunity they missed.

The outdoors is full of noise. Those animals get use to it in the areas it is allowed. If you dont like it pack your butt into the wilderness or something.

Well I read every post on this thread and most of the them are asking for clarification of if it was open or not to motorized use.

But I tend to agree with the original poster, because I had the same problem this past weekend. Hiked from a main road on a gated "closed to motorized use" road hiked about 2 miles going to an area that I knew there would be no other hunters. After getting midway up the road hiking across a few canyons and ridges heading towards a USFS road that I knew was washed out at the bottom so no vehicle access so they gated it and posted a "closed to motorized use". I see some idiot trolling around on his ATV going slowly stopping, standing up on his ATV to glass, after a few mins he would sit back down and continue on his ATV and stop at the next clear cut to do the same thing. PISSED ME OFF.  :bash:  :bash:  And yes I know for a FACT that it was closed to ATV's.  :twocents:

Illegal use should piss you off, and everyone else for that matter. That's what we were asking the original poster here; Was it illegal riding or does he just have a problem with ATVs and bikes? If legal, they've got the same right to do it as we have to walk it. If not, report the sucker and end it.

Correct and I venture a guess that we won't get an answer to that question...whether it was legal or not legal. I was just giving an example of my experience this past weekend. But on another note who are you suppose to report it to  :dunno: there isn't alot of Forest Service LEO's out there and not being able to catch up with the riders or there parked vehicle its tough to turn them in. Again it comes down to people following the rules and not being lazy, but if they continue to get away with it then what's there to stop em???

Call 911, call the county sheriff, call WDFW enforcement. Get the number for your local gamie and put it in your phone ahead of time. I have mine. When I have a problem at the goose area or up in the woods, I call him.
