non-toxic shot question..... again.
« on: October 20, 2011, 09:26:16 AM »
ok,  in areas where it says that you can not posses lead shot,..  does this mean on yourself or anywhere at all,
for example,.. if i hunt a non toxic shot area,  and i might have several loose lead shot shells in my truck,.. can i get fined for that?  or is it only if i have the lead shot on myself?   same question for places with 25 shell limit,.. is it only 25 shells on yourself?  or counting the ones in your car too?

It means you can't have it on your person or shoot it. If its in your truck that's fine.
The 25 shell limit is on your person...or shoot 25 in that area a day. so if you bring over 25 shells out with you thats a no no.
If you come back with 23 shells and 7 birds you may have some explaining to do :bdid:

but exactly what Skagit_Hunter said.. its on you while you are hunting and the shell limits are on you and what you can shoot per day in that area..

We were told by a warden last year that he could have written us a ticket for lead shells in the vehicle in a unit that has a non-tox requirement.  I am sure it would have been thrown out by a judge, but that is what we were told.

I got a 75$ ticket for having lead shells in my truck.
I was on the refuge at Suavie Island.
I went to court, told them I didn't have it out huntin. They said if it is posted on the land your truck is parked on, it stands.
Cost me 75$
It's not true that I am good for nothing---I can be used as a bad example!!
