Rimrock
« on: October 17, 2011, 06:27:03 PM »
So I ran up Rimrock this am to try my luck up high for deer. Well on the way up I almost had three doe's in my grill :yike:  I get up to where I'm walking in at 5am and take off for a 5mile walk all up hill. I took my bike and cart in just in case I get one so I can get it out easy. Well after two miles I hear some thing close so I stop. They 20yds away a bull cutt's loose and screams then proceeds to destroy a tree.  I take off and as I go my cart makes a rattle sound on the rocks and bulls are coming to me to see who is making the noise screaming at me as they do, It was awesome!  I finally get in to where I want to hunt lock the cart and bike up and head out. Well all I can say is it was a waste of time for deer. But I saw lots of elk and a few mouton goats which ive never seen up there. I headed out and on the drive home a little 2or3 point jumps up and runs on to the woods with two doe's but I wasn't going after him. It was a great day and the view was cool too

I've never seen to many deer in there but I have seen some big bucks up high. It seems like a bad year for deer.

Still over here at fish lake. Seen four doe's today. Getting closer. Sounds like you had fun keep after them. Rick

Rimrock has always been more of a deer areas then a elk area. I have never seen any deer numbers to impress me enough to hunt up there.

Heard some of the roads in that area were blocked off. Do you know anything about that. We have elk hunted there for years. Not many deer, but the ones I have seen have been good ones...

Yea it's not packed with deer but there are some very nice bucks up there if you can find them. I noticed they closed off 1203 why I don't know?

1202 has dropped about 4 foot too in the one spot. That whole area is slide prone

I love the high country up there!  I have seen more bucks up there this summer than I have since I start hunting up there (11 years) but where they are is not for the faint of heart!  Just ask colockumelk! :chuckle:
