Anyone headed to Idaho for a hunt in November?
« on: October 18, 2011, 05:19:09 PM »
A gal friend of mine and I are trying to plan a hunt out that direction... we'll both purchase wolf tags and she also would like to hunt deer because her work prevented her from getting a chance to hunt the general season this year in our state.

Anyone from hunt-wa headed that direction for a wolf hunt? She has permission on some land for deer but has never seen a wolf in her stomping grounds before.. if anyone would be willing to allow a few cute mid-20's ladies to tag along for a wolf hunt or at least send us in the right direction it would be appriciated!  :chuckle:

If you don't want to put it on the forum feel free to email me... my appologies if my fishing for information offends anyone; unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to go over and scout. We'll be there from Nov. 14-23rd I do believe. In any case, happy hunting, all!
I am not opposed to golf, for I suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering deer.

We'll be in 10a by Headquarters from the 12th until at least thanksgiving. Lot's of wolves in that area and with the snow (hopefully) hunting should be good. If your interested I'll pm you the area or you could stop by camp and we'll show you on a map where we've seen wolves.

Now we will get to see how information flows when there are a couple of cute, mid-20's ladies looking for help, rather than just some Joe Schmo  :chuckle:

We will be hunting deer, then elk, in Unit 39 from Oct 27th through Nov 9th.  Probably further south, and not in your time frame, but if it is feel free to PM me ahead of the 26th and I'll provide contact info.  I would be happy to share wolf information while I am there, but I need to fill my tag first  :IBCOOL:

Best of luck.....

I was more hoping for information flow due to the fact that I've been a forum contributor for a while more than anything.. but it doesn't hurt that we're a couple of ladies, I'm sure.  :chuckle: Happy hunting.. here's hoping you fill all your tags! It doesn't look like we'll be leaving Washington until the night of the 11th or the morning of the 12th; my hunting partner has a 50th birthday party to attend for a family member. :) Looks like we'll be missing each other. Any help on locating some large canines would be greatly appriciated, though!

Best of luck to you and your hunting partner hirsheygirl......you always seem to be in the right place at the right time. I will be close to Idaho at that time but not close enough to help.  :bash: I need to find me a mid 20's female hunting partner.  :chuckle:......or two.  :o

I would get ahold of Todd_ID, he has always been very helpful and is very knowledgeable about hunting in ID.  Good luck to both of you!

I hope I didn't offend, just teasing the members a bit.  People are so tight lipped on everything these days, even if it's a place to get out and shoot is all your after.  I would hope when it comes to wolves the information would flow like crazy.  I have heard a lot about the Clearwater area, and the abundance of wolves in that area.

We have seen plenty of track down in 39, but have only seen 2 wolves over the 6 years I have hunted the unit.  If we were targeting them, I am sure we would see more.  I know many people ask about predator calls, but I hear about just as much success with simply a cow call.  If you find an area where you know wolves are, give that a try.  The eerie part is how many might respond.  Kinda creeps me out a little.

I know of a big black female in the area I hunt, so I hope to run into her....

We have seen several tracks but only a couple single wolves in 8A.  Have definately heard about a lot more down in the Dworshack area, including that big one killed at Headquarters.  Good Luck.  I am hoping to get back over to try to fill my wolf tag also.  Already got the deer taken care of.

Our group is headed over on the 11th thru ??, we'd seen two wolves last year one dead on the hwy and one across the river. PM if you want to know what area we've seen them in. From what I've seen of your hunting career and posts you don't need much help you seem to find great critters wherever you go. Good luck! I have my tag too so they arent safe this year!
Shut up and Hunt!

Sounds like you have a WA deer tag to fill during that time frame, correct? :)

Oh you didn't offend... it actually gave me a chance to clarify that I wasn't simply trying to use my feminine ways to gain information.  :chuckle:

Best of luck with your hunting! :) We'll certainly have a large sampling of calls... from coyote, wolf, deer, elk... we'll try just about anything, I'm sure, to get a wolf in front of us.

I have an Id deer tag, but doubt I will use it. Wolves have pounded the area I go, and visibility to call one in, is nearly impossible. Best of luck though.
