help
« on: July 18, 2008, 02:20:28 PM »
I am thinking of buying a new coyote calling rifle. The Remington predator, for those not familiar it comes covered in mossy oak brush. My question is what would be the best scope to put on it that would match the finish of the rifle? No suggestions to paint plz I have no interest in that thanx JB

If paint isn't an option (Duracoat is good stuff!) you can get a scope camo-dipped--the same process used to camo most rifles/shotguns--by any one of DOZENS of companies.
It's not always cheap, though.
I left it better than I found it...did you?

I'm not sure I'm fully understanding what you want to achieve.  From a pure functionality state you could probably just get a matt black and be good to go.  If you really want to match it then the dipping is probably the only way to go.  Not sure if there are any manufacturers using that camo on any of their scopes.  Camo tape may get you close to a match.

I guess I would be more concerned with the quality of the optics, etc than the finish matchin the gun... hence my matt black comment.  Not sure you'd really get the payback on trying to make it match in terms of hunting results but it would look cool.     :twocents:

JB, you could look at getting it dipped with the same camo pattern as the gun has. I know they do scopes and rings etc, but it is at your risk. They make you sign a waiver relaseing them from liability. A buddy had one of his done and he hasnt had any problems. Something to think about.

I guess I should have been more clear what I am looking for is does anyone know of a good quality scope that comes in a camo finiish? I looked through the cabela's catalog and nikon seems to be the only one. but I am thinking matte is probably the way to go. thinking either vx-I 4x12, VX-II 3x9, VX-III in either the 1.75x6 or 2.5x8. Any imput would be nice. JB
