I stopped and checked it out last night, I was very impressed. The gentleman I talked to was very helpful and guided me through the app on his iPad, it worked really well.

I was ready to purchase it for my iPhone right there, assuming it was going to be the typical $0.99. I think the $10.00 price point is going to be their downfall. Its a cool app to have but I don't think there was anything on there that justified the cost. :twocents: I think they would have sold it to every smart phone user at the show had it been $0.99.

I could see a $10.00 initial cost and then $0.99 each year there after per state but even then you are assuming they continue to put the update out next year and don't just close shop.

The concept is good, but the price of 10.00 is to much for a app. Did he say this was each year, or just the intial price and than .99 afterwards?

He said it was each year and each state. Like I said its cool and all but if you have a smartphone in your hand most of the information is already there for free.

 Thanks everyone for stopping by the booth at the Puyallup Sportsman Show.  The positive response to the App was overwhelming.  There seems to be a question regarding the pricing point of the App at $9.99 per year / per state.  The majority stated the App was priced right.  We priced the App less than a Topo map.  The App provides GPS position to the GMU boundary lines, Topo and Satellite views, links to the WDFW, calendar, all the Big Game Hunting Regs, pictures, animal definitions and much more all rolled into a single source.  The App is a tremendous resource.

We appreciate any and all comments.

Thanks.

Good luck with that Sportsman Regs, I think if you check out the replies you will find that the majority of the members on this site feel just the opposite.

I have a question. If someone buys the 2012 version, will they still be able to use it in 2013 for mapping and just run the risk that the regulations/boundary data may be out-dated? Or does it stop working entirely at the end of the year? If the latter then I would agree that $9.99 is a bit too expensive.

Waiting for the Anroid App but not willing to pay 10 bucks a year for it. I agree with Huntpool a 10 dollar price to get the app then a .99 cent a year upgrade I think would be great.

We appreciate your comments regarding the pricing point of the App, all is taken into consideration.

To address an earlier inquiry, when a state is purchased for a given year, it can be used the following year, but it retains the previous years regulations and boundaries.

Thanks.

I dont mean to shot on your thread but.... I agree too expensive for what it is but it is nicely done and the iPad demo is easy to use.  I don't hunt many areas with 3G or better coverage.  I plan my hunts and hunt my plan for big game. Bird regs and mapping would be nice but...
I have the Garmin Rino with layers that shows me more detail for public/ private ownership of land with the name of the landowner with contact info.  This is the type of info for field use, for me anyway.  I keep a downloadeded info such as regs on my phone so that I can check it out in non-covered areas.

I do not think you get all the features on this phone.  The phone can help you see exactly where you are at from a GPS perspective.  If you are going to a new location you can tell if you are on what unit.  How many times have you seen the Warden's TV show where peopel do not know where they are hunting.  I think the 10 dollars is a great deal for the amount of trouble you can get in.
